Local government life guard station

Long & short term boat storage

Life boats and the fork trucks that handled them were stored outside which resulted in vandalism, corrosion and most importantly theft. The government was in the process of building a new lifeguard building, which would be shared with other recreational and governmental departments. They wanted to store the life boats inside but weren’t sure how this would be accomplished.

Fork trucks were considered but because of osha requirements, they had to look at special fork trucks that were large, costly and took up a lot of space. The facility manager also didn’t like the safety risks of several different and untrained employees using these special fork trucks.

(1) 500# capacity integrated stacker crane and pallet rack system model# r0.5a-333-152.5-62216

The stacker crane system provided an easy and safe way to store an awkward shaped product (5ft. Wide x 18 ft. Long lifeboats). The stacker crane system allowed for dense storage of the lifeboats inside a building that was safe from the outdoor elements, vandalism and theft. Storing the boats inside also significantly reduced maintance and repainting of the lifeboats. The increased storage density and organization of the new system resulted in maintaining a better inventory while improving loading and unloading procedures.
