Unloading large truck frames off of rail cars

Handling bulky and oddly shaped truck frames efficiently off of rail cars. There were a number of different size and shape truck frames to be handled at any given time. The top of the rail car plateforms was approximately 5 feet above the finished floor. Lastly, the floor space was restricted.

Custom designed fork trucks were the only option. However, the need for hydraulically adjustable forks both horizontally and vertically, and the need for the fork truck to telescope out to get to the rail cars from the finished floor would have resulted in a large piece of equipment which would not fit and would be unsafe to operate in the given work area.

Two 7.5 ton capacity runway mounted stacker cranes model# F15E-333-334-24066 with “man-up” cab, hydraulically controlled forks and telescoping mast

The stacker cranes give the customer accessibility in tight areas that otherwise could not be achieved. The stacker included special forks that were hydraulically adjustable both horizontally and vertically to safely handle the various shapes of the truck frames. The unit also included a telescoping mast to get over the rail cars and a “man-up” cab assembly that traveled up and down with the forks.
