Storage of jet engines for rebuild

Floor space in the existing facility is fully utilized. Customer required a better way of storing and organizing the engines prior to repair. Customer has plenty of vertical space but could not find a storage solution which could handle the large & bulky engines.

Consideration was given to handling the engines in the traditional manner, with a counter balanced fork lift. However, this was part of the problem. The space required to maneuver the lift as well as fork lift availability were already existing issues. Vertical Carousels & VLM’s were also considered but quickly dismissed due to the physical size and weight of the items to be stored.

One (1) fully motorized 1,000 Lb. capacity stacker system #1B-333-262-12066-4 with a model #VPA video pallet alignment system. Total space required: 1,035 square feet.

The stacker crane system improved the existing plant capacity without the cost of plant renovations or expansions. The customer is able to make full use of the vertical space he has available while at the same time not limiting the access to the engines. All engines are stored in an organized fashion and are 100% visible & 100% accessible 100% of the time.  Due to a diverse and aging workforce, the decision was made to motorize the entire stacker crane although the capacity is only 1,000 Lbs. Motorization of the stacker system guaranteed the highest level of productivity from the user regardless of age or gender.
